Make scary monster heads with felt shapes and a little glue. Stuff the heads with fun gifts like crayons, candy, or small toys for the perfect Halloween treat!
- Felt in the colors of your choice
- Tacky glue
- Embroidery floss
- Monster patterns (get the patterns here)
Cut out each pattern piece from the PDF download. Place your felt face down if it’s one-sided. Set each pattern piece on the felt color you want that facial feature to be, and trace around it with a marker. Cut out on the drawn lines.
Assemble the Monster:
- Place the front face piece on your work surface. Working from the bottom up, layer your face pieces and glue them in place. Let dry.
- Layer your back face piece and your front face piece together. Using embroidery floss and a running stitch, stitch the two head pieces together along the sides and the bottom to form a pouch. Knot to secure the thread, then hide the thread tails in the monster head.
A simple stitch perfect for borders and outlines, this stitch resembles a dashed line.
To make a running stitch, pull the needle up at A and insert it back into the fabric at B. Continue in the same manner, loading several stitches on the needle at a time. Leave about a stitch’s width between stitches.
